The British Embassy in Ankara is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Support Officer to work with the Projects team to help deliver the British Embassy Programme Fund in support of Turkey Network’s Country Business Plan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and assessment of financial and progress reports (checking disbursements and monitoring of programme spend as well as progress against desired outcomes);
  • Assisting project partners in project implementation (general administrative and financial support);
  • Assisting the Projects team in general programme management (organisation of visits and meetings including record keeping; providing input for social media, internal communication outlets and digital platforms such as the shared point and the website);
  • Responsible for the day to day management of the budget, working closely together with the programme managers and the head of projects section.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in Turkish and English;
  • Previous experience in project organisation and management with NGOs, international organisations, public or private agencies;
  • Good attention to detail, especially in financial and written work;
  • Ability to build working relationships with government institutions and other key stakeholders;
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines, without compromising the quality of work or customer care;
  • A high degree of integrity;
  • Adaptable, open to change and a strong team-player;
  • Good IT skills (mainly Microsoft Office applications).

 

  • Financial experience and knowledge of spreadsheets and basic accounting.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.

This is a full-time, fixed term contract until the end of March 2018 (contract renewal is subject to budget availability and performance), for 5 working days (36.15 hours net) per week.

The annual salary for this position is 58,446.08 TL gross , A2 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Ankara are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Turkish employment law.
