The British Embassy in Helsinki is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Cleaner.
The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the Embassy compound, making sure that all areas in the Embassy building are regularly cleaned. The Cleaner will also assist Residence staff in cleaning the Residence and Cottage during leave periods, procure cleaning stock items, and perform other tasks as required.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Cleaning of the embassy office spaces, communal areas, meeting rooms and club facilities;
  • Cleaning of the residence and cottage during leave periods;
  • To follow health and safety procedures at all times;
  • Procurement and management of cleaning stock items and tools for the embassy and residence;
  • Other tasks as required.
  • Good command of English language (both written and spoken, minimum of B1 level for CEFR framework);
  • Cleaning experience in an office and/or residential environment;
  • Permission to work (a valid residence permit);
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team;
  • Ability to work flexible hours;
  • IT skills (MS office, outlook).
  • Experience in housekeeping;
  • Finnish language skill.

This is a part time permanent contract of 18 hours per week. Working pattern between Monday to Friday 08.30 and 17.00 as agreed (flexible).

The appointment is subject to professional background check, security clearance and the successful completion of a probationary period.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Finland are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Finnish employment law and FCDO guidance for Country Based Staff.

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Finland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
