Main purpose of job:


The internship offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated quick-learner with an interest in international affairs, politics and human rights to join the team at the Political Economic Section at the Embassy. The position is open to students from all fields, but may particularly suit a student of Law, Political Science or Economics in the last year of his/her Bachelor’s degree, or a recent graduate.


The Political Economic Section liaises with senior political stakeholders in the Peruvian government to advance the bilateral relationship and collaboration in key policy areas. It produces political and economic analysis to inform wider decision-making, particularly on UK foreign policy priorities, human rights, and multilateral policy. The political team plays an active role in Embassy project work, and leads the Chevening Scholarship Programme for Peru. There will also be opportunities to be involved in wider Embassy activities.


Roles and responsibilities:


The intern will support the other team members in the delivery of the section’s targets, and collaborate in the analysis of relevant aspects of Peruvian politics and legislation, as well as human rights issues. The intern will assist the Chevening Officer and the section’s project implementation.


 


Other task include but are not limited to the elaboration of supporting documents and Spanish/English translations, stakeholder engagement, logistical support at events and other administrative tasks as required.


 


  • Knowledge of the Peruvian Political System
  • English written and oral proficiency



  • Creative thinking and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Good IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
