Main purpose of job:

  • This advert is for maternity cover between 5 and 7 months. 
  • Responsible for supporting the NCA activity in the region by managing the NCA office during maternity cover

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

  • Provide logistical and administerial support to the NCA International Liaison Officer (ILO) and family members based in South Africa in line with NCA policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with FCO and other HMG partners on behalf of the NCA.
  • Support the ILO in liaising with foreign law enforcement agencies; UK law enforcement; other NCA departments and external partners.
  • Represent the NCA at meetings, conferences and events.
  • Set the office’s annual budget in consultation with the ILO. Manage and monitor the budget on behalf of the ILO, maintaining accurate records and preparing regular financial reports for reviews and forecasts in line with NCA policy and procedures.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support with regards to the NCA vehicle fleet.
  • Maintain NCA assets, including vehicles.
  • Support NCA Officers in booking travel, accommodation and obtaining official travel documents.
  • On occasions, be able to provide out of hours support to NCA activity.
  • Maintain any externally funded project budgets as appropriate.
  • Other ancillary duties as required.

  • Demonstrate excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential material.
  • Demonstrate a high level of discretion and integrity.
  • Ability to produce reports and maintain records to a high standard.
  • Ability to multitask and priorities workload in accordance to NCA needs.
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised at times.
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence that enables the candidate to drive legally in South Africa.
  • A working knowledge of law enforcement agencies in the UK and southern Africa.
  • Familiar with FCO and NCA IT systems.

  • There will be various mandatory NCA and FCO E-Learning training required to be undertaken for any successful applicant.
