View Vacancy - Part-Time Driver (CHEG19.092)
The United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations in Geneva represents the interests and policies of the UK at the UN and is recruiting a highly motivated and skilled Driver to provide a high standard of transport and logistics support to the UK Mission. Core duties include driving, and providing administrative assistance to the Mission.
In more detail, main responsibilities will include:
General driving duties
- Driving Mission Ambassadors and other staff as required, in a safe and smooth driving style;
- Adherence to traffic laws and making sure that customers are delivered to the right place at right time.
Care of vehicles
- Keeping the vehicles clean and serviceable inside and out;
- Ensuring the vehicles are always presentable;
- Daily check of tyre pressure, hydraulic fluid, oil, battery level and fuel;
- Identifying any defects as early as possible and to keep any potential risk to a minimal level;
- Ensure vehicle maintenance, servicing and insurance renewal is done as necessary.
Administrative duties
- Assist other drivers with administrative work;
- Deliver and collect mail and parcels as require;d
- Working as part of the Mission team and helping colleagues out as necessary.
- Advanced level of English (both oral and written);
- Intermediate level of French (both oral and written);
- Valid driver’s license and more than 5 years driving experience;
- Experience as a professional driver;
- Expert knowledge of various destinations in Geneva including UN institutions, airport, hotels, banks etc;
- Broad knowledge of travel routes, road conditions throughout Geneva;
- Ability to learn and improve;
- Strong communication skills;
- Good and cooperative team member;
- Confidence with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Strong planning skills, flexible to change;
- Being able to work at a very short notice.
- Previous experience in working in a foreign diplomatic mission or similar.
This is a full-time position, for a fixed-term contract of 2 years with possibility of renewal by mutual agreement.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
