Main purpose of job:

As part of the LatAm Regional Investment Team, to lead the Strategic Partnerships and Inward Investment agenda at the Department for International Trade in Mexico, supporting High Value Outward Direct Investment into Mexico and delivering high quality Foreign Direct Investment into the UK, and ensuring successful business engagement with leading British companies in Mexico.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

Inward Investment to UK by Mexican companies

-       Assist Mexican companies and entrepreneurs to successfully locate and expand operations in the UK;

-       Pipeline manage (100+) and select a list of  high value existing and new investors (15+) to account manage from Mexico ;

-       Key stakeholder and institutional relations management, including industry federations and associations, government and multipliers for the InvestInGreatBritain Campaign; with focus on lead generation  (80+) and raise the profile of the UK as a  FDI location for Mexican companies;

-       Together with the LatAm  Investment Teams in relevant markets, support joint activities (missions, marketing, events, communications) and  lead on the delivery of targets for Mexico within the Regional High Value Investment Campaigns (HVIC) on Food & Drink, Technology and Financial Services;

-       Manage Prospecting budget to support  non-HVIC FDI related activity and lead generation;

-       Weekly calls with the Regional Investment Manager on processes and pipeline development updates and supporting with quarterly performance review to the HQ and DIT Director LatAm;

-       Keep pipeline of projects and contacts updated on Client Relationship Management system (CDMS);

-       Work with regional colleagues with access to High Net Worth Individuals from Mexico, supporting on the delivery of private wealth investment into the UK into regeneration, philanthropic investment or financial markets;

Development of Strategic Relationship Programme for UK companies investing in Mexico

Through consultation with colleagues in DIT network and other stakeholders, develop a Strategic Relationship Programme with leading UK companies with a presence in Mexico and implemente DITs overall strategy for Outward Director Investment (ODI).

-       Develop range of propositions to be used to engage leading UK companies in a strategic relationship with DIT Mexico .

-       Develop specific company propositions, research and prepare all necessary information, including presentations, for engagement with each UK company in the portfolio, and agree approach with senior management team and sector teams in UK, including follow up and evaluation.

 

Additionally; Support DIT Director LatAm, Regional Investment Manager and HQ  with briefings and information for high level visitors, events and meetings related to investment activity in Mexico;

Support DIT Director Mexico with combined trade and investment reporting, briefings and activities, and contribute to British Embassy activities as appropriate

 

Graduated from International Relations, Business Administration or related courses with at least 5 years of experience on a related field/activity to this job description and able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and relationship skills.

MBA on Business Management or any other relevant post-graduation course is desirable. Candidates with prior work experience in International Business/Multinationals, CRMs and able to demonstrate existing relationship with the Mexican and British business community will be considered as a plus.
