Main purpose of job:

The British Embassy in Khartoum invites applications for the position of an Embassy Cleaner in the Estates Team.

The main purpose of the job is to provide high quality cleaning services, the successful candidates will maintain clean premises including the Embassy compound as well as its amenities using the prescribed methods and frequencies in line with the requirements of the cleaning specifications and safe working procedures.

Roles and responsibilities:

Individual work:

  • Cleaning and maintaining offices, amenities and sanitary areas
  • Cleaning the kitchen (including dishes and utensils) and meeting rooms
  • Using electronically powered scrubbing/polishing / vacuuming machines to scrub, polish, spray and clean floors
  • Dusting, damp wiping, washing or polishing the furniture, shelves, window sills and external surfaces of cupboards, air conditioners and fitments
  • Emptying waste bins or similar receptacles in offices and meeting spaces
  • Sweeping floors with brushes or dust control mops
  • Frequent cleaning of the touch points in the allocated areas;
  • Cleaning the residential accommodation when required
  • Cleaning outdoor areas and entrance/exit areas
  • Report maintenance needs in related areas to Line Manager
  • Replenishing consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) if required
  • Able to follow job and safety instructions
  • Able to use detergents and chemicals in a safe way and following H&S regulations
  • Undertake wall washing or inside window pane cleaning
  • Cleaning up after events

Team work:

  • Assisting in furniture moves from and between properties and stores
  • Undertake deep cleaning with other team members as per the periodic cleaning plan
  • Assisting on other ad hoc Estate matters

Minimum 2 years of previous experience

Driving License

A good level of physical fitness and health

Thorough understanding of using different tools and chemicals use in cleaning process

Able to use detergents and chemicals in a safe way and following H&S regulations

Dedicated and careful

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Able to follow job and safety instructions

Good command of English Language

Working patterns:

Normal working hours are 07:00 - 15:30 Sunday to Thursday.
