UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the international business development agency of the Government of the United Kingdom and works to foster transatlantic business relations between the US and its top economic partner in Europe.

UKTI USA works closely with UKTI headquarters in London, related agencies in the UK, representatives of the English Regions, and the UK’s Devolved Administrations in the US, to assist US companies looking to invest in the UK. 

Duties and Responsibilities

With a focus on the NY tri-state area, this position will have a primary focus of helping to identify business development opportunities for US companies looking to enter the European market and for UK companies seek a foothold in the US. We have two vacancies: one falls within the Creative & Media sector, and the other within the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

Creative and Digital Media

Creative and Media includes business involved in: Film & TV; Music; Digital Marketing, Advertising (incl. online/mobile), Computer Games, Ecommerce, and Publishing.

ICT
Information Communication Technology includes Big Data, Clous, Telecoms and Enterprise Software.

 Responsibilities will include:

  • Through primary and secondary research and marketing activity, proactively identify potential investors in the Creative & Media/ICT sector, who would be interested in setting up or expanding their operations in the UK. Make initial contact and set up meetings for TIO.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of developments and trends in the Creative/ICT sector in both the US and the UK and manage a database and our Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) of key contacts / projects in those industries.
  • Support the Creative and Digital Media/ICT Officer with managing creative/strategy projects through to completion.
  • Assist with initiatives such as the development and execution of trade/investment missions, panel discussions, receptions and other events to promote the UK’s Creative/ICT sector. (Kidscreen Mission, NY Social Media Week, etc.)
  • Provide operations support by responding appropriately to information requests and inquiries, monitoring email, and addressing other communications that contribute to UKTI’s ability to proactively and reactively respond to the needs of US industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • 2-3 years full-time professional experience in international business and start up sector, with a proven track record of fostering business relationships.
  • Courteous and professional and experience of dealing with senior level representatives of various organizations.
  • Excellent research and report writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, effectively manage, and execute multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and good follow up discipline.
  • Working knowledge of both the New York Tri – State and UK creative industries scene, trends in global business development.
  • Experience identifying high growth tech start ups for international expansion
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and Outlook; enhanced online research skills desirable.
  • Proficiency/Proven record in using of Twitter, Linked In, Facebook, Tumblr and other social media tools for business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain processes and issues to teams
  • Capacity to work independently without supervision, as part of a teamwork and within tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of tech blogs and media platforms

The target salary for this position is $49,504 annualized.  Salary will be confirmed upon offer of employment.
