The British Embassy in Oslo is part of the worldwide UK diplomatic network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are seeking to recruit a Ground Maintenance operative, who will be able to provide professional grounds keeping services at the Ambassador’s Residence and Embassy compound. The Grounds Maintenance operative will be responsible for keeping the grounds neat and tidy, general landscaping, gardening, snow clearing as well as basic routine maintenance/cleaning of all landscaping equipment. We have a large Residence garden in our property and a large recreational area that require regular maintenance.

  • Mow the extensive lawns, prune/trim the bushes and trees, maintain flowerbeds and pots and generally give the grounds a manicured look.
  • Weeding, branch/leaf clearing and keeping the grounds presentable for residents and visitors.
  • Operate snow removal equipment during the winter to keep all of the walkways and Embassy entrances and car park cleared and safe.
  • Support landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary by the Estates manager.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to make sure the grounds and properties are well maintained, whilst maintaining high level health and safety focus within the Embassy compound.
  • Pressure washing and general cleaning of areas around the compound when required.
  • Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on the lawn care equipment and garden tools.
  • Grounds keeping experience;
  • Experience to operate small tractor;
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and use of general maintenance equipment;
  • Valid Driving License;
  • Fluency at a B1 (both oral and written) in English;
  • Fluency (both oral and written) in Norwegian.
