The Department of International Trade at the British Embassy in Cairo is seeking a Trade Adviser – Healthcare & Financial Sectors, grade B3 (L) to start immediately.

Main purpose of the job:

To help British companies to win business in the high value Healthcare & Financial sectors in Egypt, helping to deliver the Department for International Trade (DIT) Regional Trade Plan for Africa. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Growing UK exports to (and investment in) Egypt in the Healthcare and Financial sectors, and other sectors such as infrastructure as required;

• Planning and delivering targeted campaigns and activities in these sectors aimed at increasing the demand for UK goods and services in Egypt;

• Providing professional advice and support to UK companies wishing to develop business in Egypt;

• Identifying and generating commercial opportunities, matching and introducing UK suppliers into these market opportunities, and supporting companies to win contracts;

• Promoting, where relevant, the financing products offered by UK Export Finance, the British government’s Export Credit Agency, to support companies win contracts;

• Ensuring the delivery of agreed targets for value of contracts won by UK companies, and campaign milestones;

• Identifying issues faced by British investors active in Egypt and develop and implement clear strategies to resolve them;

• Working closely with the Trade Policy Officer to identify market access issues and solutions;

• Assisting the pan African Trade Services Unit in providing high quality market research and organising visit programmes and events to introduce UK companies to the Egyptian market;

• Organising and running events in line with the Regional Trade Plan and relevant campaigns, either independently or in cooperation with internal or external partners;

• Building and maintaining a network of stakeholders, including UK and Egyptian businesses (private and public sector), government, commercial partners and multipliers in Egypt as well as in the UK and North Africa;

• Attending relevant events both in Egypt and in region and UK as required;

• Contributing flexibly and fully to the work of the DIT Africa Team, and exporting successful campaign approaches to other relevant markets across Africa;

• Occasionally act as an interpreter.

• Fluency in English and Arabic (both oral and written);

• A degree-level education in business, management, economics or international studies

• Experience of working in business and/or the relevant sectors

• A good understanding of the UK and Egyptian business scenes and/or financial and healthcare sectors;

• Strong account management experience and excellent customer relationship management skills;

• Experience of delivering commercial targets, for example on sales or project management delivery timescales

• Excellent IT skills, including the ability to use social media tools to support your activities;

• Flexibility for occasional out of hours work and travel.

Remuneration:

The position is B3 (L) and the Gross Salary is USD 1,343.81 per month subject to insurance and tax as per the usual regulations based on a 36 hours per week. This is a full-time, One (1) Year fixed-term with an option to be renewed in agreement with both parties. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Please note that this position will involve some commitments (travelling, networking, receptions, and seminars) out of normal working hours.
