The Customer Account Management Network represents UKVI in the marketplace. Operating across the Asia-Pacific region, our role is to deliver against the organisational vision, which is to deliver an excellent visa service for APAC which protects the UK from harm and supports UK growth and prosperity.


We do this in 4 ways:

  1. Understand our customers to build an accurate picture of the end-to-end journey
  2. Inform and promote the UK visa system to organisations
  3. Run a bespoke service for Key Accounts, ensuring excellence of service when it matters most
  4. Innovate the APAC visa offering to deliver long-term success

The Customer Account Manager for Education & Government is a key, high-profile role, acting both as a focal point between UKVI and the Chinese government and the sector expert for education. You will be frequently out of the office, visiting your Key Accounts, government partners or speaking at events, so this position suits someone who enjoys dealing with people and operating autonomously.

Education:

  • Actively engage with key stakeholders, such as British Council, DIT, CBBC, to represent UKVI at their online and offline activities to educate target audiences about UKVI’s latest policies and requirements. Draft presentations, messages and Q&As based on the needs of different occasions.
  • Manage the “summer school scheme” with British Council to trouble shoot problems and seek areas for improvements.
  • Identify potential partners to develop innovative schemes and promote UKVI services in the education sector, and drive the implementation of the scheme by leading on the discussion with partners, seeking input and feedback from stakeholders concerned, collecting information and drafting proposals.
  • Regularly seek feedback from education agents and stakeholders, and collect market intelligence to advise the operation on problems and market trends.
  • Work closely with communications manager and the Embassy’s communications team to provide advice on the wording of education-related messages and campaign.

Government

  • Arrange and coordinate meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) at working level, and for high-level visits.
  • Assist senior management team in the exchange of Note Verbales (NV) and official letters with the Chinese government, including drafting, translating, and any necessary follow-ups.
  • Provide interpretation (when necessary) for meetings with the MFA and MPS.
  • Prepare briefings for meetings and visits as required by senior managers on an ad hoc basis.
  • Work closely with the operation to flag urgent and high profile applications that are of the interests of the Chinese ministries.
  • Work closely with colleagues and commercial partners to deliver government approval for our on-demand visa service
  • Ensure clear communication and correct interpretation of information exchange between the Chinese government and the UKVI senior management team. Provide advice to senior management on approaches to engage with relevant Chinese ministries.
  • Work closely with the management team and the operation to drive the progress of any project with the Chinese government.
  • Good IT skills, knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in Chinese
  • Previous experience in the immigration, education or government sectors are highly desirable
  • Experience of account management or business development in the public or private sector would be a distinct advantage

We offer a competitive package, which includes basic salary, good leave entitlement, and insurance plan, etc. The gross salary (before all deductions) is CNY 17, 870/ month for Chinese Nationals and an abated monthly salary of CNY 24, 746/month for British Nationals and spouses/ partners (all nationalities) of diplomats who are ‘W’ (diplomatic) visa holders and meet passport criteria.

We also offer excellent development opportunities and a 22-day annual leave entitlement in pro rata.

Conditioned working hours is 35 hours/ week from Monday to Friday and flexible working can be arranged upon personal needs.
