Main purpose of job:

In 2017-18, the Embassy’s Communications Team will mainly focus its public diplomacy activities on furthering the agenda set out in the Argentina-UK Joint Statement, to promote the key areas mentioned in that document and also looking to develop business opportunities.

The Communications Intern will help the team make the most of the opportunities that will arise to promote the UK to a targeted audience. It will require communication skills (drafting, editing, design) to be able to contribute to public diplomacy ideas, planning and delivering events as well as liaising with customers.

Roles and responsibilities:

Public Diplomacy Campaigns:

  • Contribute with ideas and assist in planning events to deliver Embassy objectives.
  • Assist the Communications Officer in contacting and inviting media for Embassy activities.
  • Design and produce promotional material for circulation at activities and events. These would include the design and production of invitations, brochures, banners, videos, etc.

Marketing, Communications:

  • Support the Communications Officer in further developing the Embassy’s website and social media platform.
  • Support Communications Officer in producing promotional material for journalists and guests, doing research and drafts.
  • Assist in managing media for Embassy’s projects and activities: putting together contact lists, drafting press releases and reports, taking photos and videos.
  • Monitoring media for specific news and references.
  • Currently stuyding a University degree in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations in an argentine university that holds an internship agreement with the British Embassy. 
  • Excellent writing/drafting skills in English and Spanish.
  • Basic graphic designing skills.  
  • Working knowledge of social networks.  
  • Good photo and video editing skills.
  • Research experience (sources, internet searches).  
  • Working well with others.
  • Showing initiative.
  • Campaign experience.

The Communications Intern will be able to participate in any training delivered in-house, and will have the opportunity to complete any e-learning or Diplomatic Academy chapter he/she finds relevant to their position.

  • The successful candidate will receive an incentive compensation of ARS 3,358
  • Total working hours: 20 per week
  • Monday-Friday 9:00 to 13:00 hs, but we can be flexible to accommodate classes.
