Main purpose of job:
The Gardner is responsible to up keep the embassy compound grounds, gardens and flora. They will be responsible for all work request submitted to the gardening team and is responsible to set up venues for any events and meetings.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To carry out numerous gardening duties under the head Gardner supervision.
  • Embassy ground maintenance - Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, bed preparation and planting.
  • To carry out lawn maintenance and cultivation in the compound and at off compound houses.
  • Flowers planting and maintenance including making flower beds and flower pots at various places.
  • To ensure gardening equipment’s are used properly and maintained regularly.
  • To keep the tool shed room clean and tidy.
  • To keep the compound tidy including the roads and footpaths clear and free from litter at all times.
  • To empty litter bins around the compound and from houses and offices.
  • To set up venues including putting up tents and furniture for events as required.
  • To support the technical work group as a labour force.   
  • 2 year experience of gardening and ground management.
  • Knowledge on Health and safety procedures.
  • Completion of Grade 12 (applicant must have taken the national exam).

Language requirements: 

Language: Amharic

Level of language required: Fluent 

  •  Class 2 Driving license
