The British Embassy in Vilnius is looking for a Security Guard for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorates.

The successful candidate will be providing security guarding service to ensure the safety and security of Embassy staff members, visitors, customers, and contractors as well as protecting all properties within Embassy/Residence premises. Remaining alert and vigilant and pro-actively responding to incidents and emergencies in accordance the established security instructions and procedures.

The British Embassy Vilnius is a professional, friendly and inclusive team, which supports the development and wellbeing of all its staff members. This role would suite a proactive, team player, with experience of working in a security role. 

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • Work with the wider guard force and Embassy guard team, to ensure the security of all staff and properties
  • Control access to Embassy / Residence
  • Carry out search procedures of persons, vehicles and mail coming into the Embassy
  • Regular patrols of Embassy and Residence grounds
  • Report any security incidents / events to British Embassy security managers and the wider regional security manager
  • Maintain all appropriate security logs
  • Maintain and correctly use all security equipment to the required standard
  • Be appropriately dressed for duty at all times
  • Maintain and act upon all incoming communications, such as radio, email and phone calls
  • Develop a working knowledge of Embassy functions when dealing with public, in order to direct them to the relevant team or source of information

  • Completion of Secondary School;
  • Good communication and teamwork skills; 
  • Ability to work on shifts;
  • Fluency at a A1 level (both written and oral) in English 
  • Fluency at a B2 level (both written and oral) in Lithuanian

This is a permanent contract with of 40 gross hours per week (12 hours shifts).
