The British Embassy in Oslo is part of the United Kingdom’s world-wide diplomatic network, and represents British political, economic and consular interests in Norway and is now looking to recruit an European Affairs and Trade Policy Adviser. This is a new position which will support the Embassy’s work on European matters and trade policy. The job-holder will report to the Head of European Affairs and Trade Policy.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Research and analysis – principally in the areas of trade, agriculture, fisheries, justice and home affairs.
  • Compiling information required for policy documents, briefing and other exercises for British government departments and senior Embassy staff.
  • When required, contributing to the organisation of visits and events.
  • Fluency in Norwegian and English (both oral and written).
  • Excellent research skills and ability to synthesize complex information into concise reports.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of and interest in European institutions and trade policy.

This is a full-time permanent position. The working hours are 35 net per week.
