Main purpose of job:

To promote the exports of goods and services from the UK to Afghanistan

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

To work closely with the DIT Director for Afghanistan to ensure that we provide the very best support to British companies looking to export to Afghanistan.  The support we provide includes analysis of opportunities for new business, the identification of business contacts in Afghanistan that match UK business interests, and follow up for UK companies on key projects of interest to them.

To search out new business opportunities, research business sectors, develop business contacts and record all information on DITI Afghanistan databases and the DIT worldwide Customer Relationship Management database.

 Work with colleagues from across the British Embassy in Kabul with the aim of maximising the opportunities for British business in Afghanistan, and in helping the wider Embassy to achieve its objectives with regard to the development of a stronger private sector in Afghanistan.

Respond quickly and accurately in response to enquiries about business opportunities in Afghanistan.

 

 

Essential on arrival:      

  1. A minimum of three years working in an Embassy or a business or related environment in Afghanistan.  A degree level qualification.
  2. An understanding of business and the factors that will create business success in Afghanistan.
  3. Able to work independently, to apply initiative, to problem solve and work under pressure to meet multiple and changing priorities, deadlines and objectives.
  4. A confident communicator able to deal with senior government officials, VIPs and high level private sector contacts.
  5. An excellent team player, with interpersonal skills, and the ability to take the wider perspective.
  6. Excellent communication and oral and written English skills.
  7. Computer literacy in all Microsoft packages and accurate typing skills
  1.   Experience of working successfully for an international company based in Afghanistan.
  2. Qualification in Finance, Business Studies or Economics would be an advantage.

SALARY PACKAGE:

The Local Staff Terms & Conditions for staff working the in the British embassy will apply.

For external candidates, salary will be $2,606.10 (Gross) per month with $100 transport and $125 medical allowances.  We also offer a competitive package including performance-related bonus scheme, good annual leave entitlements, a multicultural environment, learning and development opportunities.

The conditioned net working hours are Sunday-Thursday 0830-1630 hrs.  Flexible working hours can be agreed.
