The main purpose of job is to:

  • lead the Guinea element of a Sub Saharan project in mining infrastructure and to develop opportunities and turn these into export successes for UK business, working with the project lead in Ghana;.
  • strengthen the UK’s commercial relationship with Guinea by promoting UK exports and attracting UK investment to Guinea as part of a UK Trade Strategy for West Africa. 

 Roles and responsibilities;

  • Identify the demand in Guinea to create and execute a pipeline of opportunities in the Sub Saharan mining infrastructure project;
  • Lead on marketing activities in the Mining Infrastructure project plan, such as social media campaigns, and trade missions;
  • Prepare reports on performance of the project, including successes, progress on targets and mitigating actions to manage risks to delivery;
  • Identify and promote new export opportunities in Guinea for UK companies within the West Africa Trade Strategy;
  • Support and advise British companies operating in Guinea;
  • Develop the UK’s network of commercial contacts in Guinea and West Africa;
  • Provide updates and briefing for UK companies on opportunities and developments in Guinea and West Africa;
  • Work closely with the UK’s commercial network in West Africa;
  • Organisation of commercial events in Guinea;
  • Representation of the UK at key events.
  • Fluent French; English to a high standard (oral, listening, reading and writing – this will be tested)
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
  • University (Bachelors) degree in a relevant subject
  • Advanced knowledge of social media
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point

  • 3 years experience in the private sector, or in a position similar to that advertised
  • Experience of staff management
  • Proven analysis and reporting skills
