The British Embassy in Czech Republic is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Digital Communications Officer based in Prague.

The main purpose of the job is to develop, administer and create content for Embassy social media.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Proactively seek new opportunities to create or procure digital content (video, tweets, FB posts, Embassy website, Flicker, Instagram, vlogs) for use on Embassy social media channels in order to amplify UK Government messages and increase impact of communications. Report impact of Embassy social media activity, including key performance indicators, monitoring visitor statistics, reach and participation. Advise the Ambassador and colleagues on the best use of social media.
  • Implement and localise FCO digital communication campaigns, and share partner information (UK Government departments) via Embassy social networks. Write and edit texts in English and Czech. Be creative and innovative in delivering Embassy objectives via social media tools.
  • Act as deputy to the Head of Communications. Assist in delivery of public and commercial diplomacy projects, media relations (handle media queries, place information, arrange media interviews, draft press releases and background briefs), media monitoring, event management and ministerial visits.
  • Fluent English and Czech, oral and written. Excellent editorial skills, ability to write and edit engagingly using the appropriate tone aimed at various audiences.
  • Experience delivering digital marketing/communications campaigns.
  • Experience engaging online audiences through social media and writing for the web.
  • Knowledge of content management systems, social media and campaign management tools, incl. analytics and evaluation of impact.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, awareness of digital trends and practical knowledge of using digital tools (social media, blogs).
  • Experience in video production, video editing, vlogs and graphic design.
  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines and changing priorities. A team player, effective communicator with strong customer focus. Ability to work independently and flexibly.
  • Experience in PR, working with the media.
  • Experience in creating infographics, working with iMovies, iPhone, iMac, Window platforms, and knowledge of other digital tools for content creation.
  • University degree or equivalent.

This is a full-time  position for a maternity cover contract.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance. The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorisation for the Czech Republic in order to apply.
