The UK Government’s Department for International Trade (formerly UK Trade & Investment) is responsible for promoting British trade across the world.

The British Office in Taipei is currently recruiting an Investment Officer to work as part of the Inward Investment team in promoting the United Kingdom as FDI destination for Taiwanese businesses aspiring to locate and grow their European businesses. The jobholder is also expected to provide secretarial/administrative support to the Head of Department for International Trade. 


The Jobholder is expected to - 

  • Support the team to achieve investment wins: identify Taiwanese companies who are interested in investing in the UK via market research, proactively cold-callings, and meetings set up for the team  
  • Handle general enquiries on investing in the UK and follow up with meetings
  • Help the team members to maintain client relationship with existing investors through investor development activities  
  • Work with Communications/Marketing team in promoting GREAT campaign to ensure investment message has been conveyed
  • Support  the investment team on programme arrangement for seminar, workshop, VIP visit and sector specialists’ visits
  • Manage data input, including company profile, investment projects and client interactions onto the internal database 
  • Assist the Head of Section and team members with administrative tasks

  • Excellent communication skills: fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin languages
  • Relevant administrative experiences
  • Good IT skills (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent
  • Previous market research, marketing or promotion and programme or project management support experiences
  • Experience of working with/understanding UK and Taiwanese industry/government
  • Broad knowledge of, or demonstrable interest in, the UK

The British Office offers a competitive remuneration package with a gross salary of NT$42, 325 per month x 13.5, benefits, leave entitlement and training package. The job is linked to the British Office’s Local Staff A2 grade.

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Office are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Taiwan employment law. Candidates must have the correct permit to work in Taiwan in order to apply.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. You must have or be able to obtain correct permit to work or work authorisation in Taiwan in order to apply. Any costs related to obtaining or renewing permits and visas are the responsibility of the successful applicant.
