Main purpose of job

The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) is recruiting for the position of Regional Marketing and Communications Manager to support the delivery of an impactful and exciting programme of marketing and communications activity throughout the year across the Latin America & the Caribbean region.

The Department for International Trade promotes and supports bilateral trade and investment across the Latin America & Caribbean (LATAC) region. Promoting LATAC as a trading destination for UK exporters and investors is a key strategic priority.

The jobholder will play a key part in delivering the DIT LATAC Marketing and Communications strategy, focussing on promoting the UK’s key industrial strengths, demonstrating its creativity and innovation, and positioning the UK as a key trading partner for the Latin America & the Caribbean region through an exciting programme of marketing and communications activities for both the UK and the LATAC region.


Roles and responsibilities

  • Support Head of MarComms Hub in the Design and implementation of a plan for marketing and communications activity, engaging teams and working closely with sector leads (UK/LATAC), Country Directors, and colleagues across Government that supports DIT LATAC objectives. Ensure the plan remains current, harnesses the latest digital tools and is linked to LATAC and UK strategies. 
  • Champion a regional approach, encouraging and supporting the Marketing team to deliver activity with a regional dimension, and proactively pursuing opportunities to join up initiatives and work across the region. Support teams to develop regional bids, activities and events. Encourage and champion one HMG approach, working closely with FCO regional HUB and PR officers in every market.
  • Directly lead 2 Marketing Managers covering Brand Management and GREAT campaigns for LATAC, with particular emphasis on creating a visible and accessible presence across the region Support on team processes and ensure the qualified delivery of marketing KPIs through Evaluation and Insights. Support Head of MarComms Hub in managing 2 Communications Managers and 2 Communications Analyst in the delivery of Public relations and digital diplomacy for the region. Above all, champion the implementation of synergetic ways of working within the DIT LATAC MarComms Hub.
  • Learning and Development: Support learning and development within the team with particular focus on digital capabilities. Champion DIT & FCO values.
  • Develop and improve content, collateral, and core scripts. Working with teams across the region, develop impactful and attractive content and collateral to promote the UK and LATAC. Support on the development and implementation of a compelling narrative for the region, and across each of our key sectors, which positions the UK as a key partner for trade and investment.

  • Develop strong working relationship with Marketing and Communications colleagues in DIT HQ, the FCO, and across the HMG network. Develop a strong understanding of colleagues strategic priorities, and ensure DIT LATAC marketing activity is aligned, and responsive to evolving cross-Government priorities.

  • Support marketing and communications upskilling/learning and development across the region. Train and upskill DIT LATAC staff in skills needed to deliver effective marketing and communication activity with particular focus on digital skills. Together with the LATAC People, Skills and Capability Manager, develop a programme of learning and development activity focussed on core skills.

  • Support effective expenditure of the LATAC Marketing and Communications budget of ~£510k, as well as ad-hoc project funds. Ensure marketing spend is strategically distributed across the region and its expenditure is aligned with overall DIT objectives. Ensure creative proposal of marketing campaigns to various sector teams and in different LATAC markets, with a strong focus on digital promotion


  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least two or more years of experience in a similar role within the fields of Marketing and Communications
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Proven knowledge of Digital Marketing technique
  • Proven ability of influencing within a company or organisation to achieve objectives
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent Project Management experience
  • Excellent level of Spanish and/or Portuguese and English, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel (regionally and internationally).

Language: English (Fluent), Spanish (Fluent) if based in Mexico, Portuguese (Fluent) if Based in Brazil

  • Experience working in an international organisation.
  • Experience leading, working with remote/regional teams organisations.
  • Remote line management experience.
