The British Consulate General Istanbul is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to hire a part-time (80%) permanent Human Resources Assistant for the Corporate Services section. The new hire will be assisting the British Embassy Turkey Network HR Team.

Main duties and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

  • Act as the first point of contact in HR matters for all non-English speaking staff;
  • Carrying out the process for S Band recruitments (in Turkish language);
  • Attending recruitment panels as HR representative when required;
  • Managing job advertisements on career portals (kariyer.net, LinkedIn, etc.);
  • Providing administrative support to the HR Team and hiring managers with all recruitment related activities;
  • Update HR staff lists and reports for all Turkey Network;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel files;
  • Drafting letters and emails in Turkish and in English;
  • Ensure smooth recording of long-term absence cases such as maternity leave;
  • Provide translation and interpretation support when needed;
  • Prepare HR forms and documents for arrivals, departures and contractual changes;
  • Manage exit interview in coordination with the Regional HR Hub;
  • SGK Enrolment and SGK exit;
  • Assist the HR Team in ad-hoc duties;
  • Other duties as required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Human Resources field;
  • Overall understanding of the core HR processes (recruitment, reporting, performance management and etc.);
  • Fluent English and Turkish, written and verbal;
  • Good clerical and drafting skills in both languages;
  • Efficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially in Word and Excel;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks to an agreed standard;
  • Attentive to set performance objectives and meeting deadlines;
  • Being a good team player who is able to work with little supervision.
  • Familiarity with Turkish Labour Law applications;
  • Previous HR generalist experience.

This is a permanent part-time position for 5 working days (29 hours net).

The monthly salary for this position is 876.47 USD gross (%80 of the A1 Base). Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.
