Main purpose of job:

The British High Commission has the largest fleet of Armoured and Soft Skin Vehicles that are vital to the smooth running of UK’s largest diplomatic mission. With business across Pakistan, the transportation section is the one of the biggest department in BHC.

The main purpose of this job is to operate both Armoured  and Soft vehicles with skills and responsibility. Driver role is to ensure safety and comfort of employees during travel, maintain punctuality to all arrivals and departures and upholding the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the assigned vehicles. As a  driver with our team, candidate will be entrusted with ensuring the safety and security of personnel, equipment, and cargo during transportation. Your adaptability and expertise will be vital in navigating various road weather condition while adhering to strict security protocols. Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

  • Perform duties according to duty roster.
  • Maintain official vehicles journey record sheet.
  • Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and organization policies.
  • Maintain a clean and well-maintained of vehicle, both inside and outside.
  •  Conduct routine inspections for the vehicle’s to identify and report any maintenance needs.
  •  Handle minor vehicle repairs and emergencies such as changing a flat tyre or jump-starting the vehicle.
  •  Conduct rigorous daily checks (engine oil, Brake Oil, Fuel Level, tyre pressure, Lights, washers and wipers) and ensure that the car is fully maintained.
  •  Communicate effectively with transport supervisor to coordinate schedules and changes.
  • Make sure documents are correctly completed
  • Adhere to BHC policies and procedures related to vehicle usage, safety protocols and confidentiality.
  • Flexible in timings. Willing to work on duty roaster, as we are running team with 24/7 roaster.

Language requirements:

Language:  English & Urdu

Level of language required: Should be able to communicate in English and express himself/herself, skill main be tested during the hiring process. Must be fluent in urdu.

Working patterns:

This post is NOT suitable for people looking for flexible working. Selected applicant will work up to 48 hours (Maximum of 11 hours a day) a week on shifts roster (Day, Evening and Night) during both weekdays and over weekends. Selected candidate will have a benefit of shift disturbance allowance.

Any candidate will have to be cleared through the Police and FCDO vetting checks prior to taking up the appointment.

 Appointment is subject to medical.

  • HTV License and Educational Documents along with experience certificates.
  • Secondary School Certificate is required but Higher Secondary School Certificate would have preference.
  • Holds HTV licence with almost 5 years of experience as a HTV driver with National & International Originations or with Diplomatic Missions.

For BHC candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply. For other than BHC candidates the basic salary will be ­­PKR 84,986 per month. This salary is non-negotiable.

'Please note that the current salaries are being dollarized and processed in USD (using a fixed corporate exchange rate from November 2022) to provide cushion against the current external market conditions. This is a temporary measure and is subject to review at regular intervals. The payroll will revert to local currency processing once the external market conditions are normalised.
