Estates

Main purpose of job:

Manage the operational delivery of estates works, maintenance process e.g. work orders, preventive programme of maintenance, to ensure a safe and compliant platform for all staff. Manage Estates support staff, including outsourced resources.

Duties and Responsibilities: (what will the jobholder be expected to achieve)

Estates Operations 70%

  • Monitor estates mailbox and liaise with Estates Manager to programme work order requests, maintaining a planned preventative works register and schedule.
  • Manage the day to day activity of the support teams (including third parties), acting as the initial escalation and contact point for staff queries. Focus on effective customer service, ensuring that the estates team is providing a professional service in line with the post corporate services charter.
  • Supervise preventative and reactive works to UK standards.
  • Request payments and monitor maintenance budgets with the Estates Manager and Finance Officer.

 

Health & Safety 20%

  • Work closely with Estates Manager to manage health & safety related issues, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation.
  • Deliver health and safety implementation and standards.
  • Ensure support staff (including external) follow and maintaining the required H&S Standard
  • Acting as a fire warden

Team Support 10%

  • Assist other members of the Corporate Services team as required.
  • Participate in post crisis activity.
  • Act as Requisitioner and Receiver

Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

  • 3 px
  • A good command of English and Portuguese 
  • Good Oral and Written Communications Skills
  • Good customer service skills coupled with an ability to handle difficult customers
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office [MS Word, Excel, Outlook]; general office and administration skills.
  • An ability to work both as a cooperative and supportive team member and must also be able to work unsupervised. Must be able to use initiative, and manage their time to achieve allotted tasks in an effective manner.
  •  1 year experience working in a similar environment

  • Previous general maintenance experience.

Working patterns:

The British Embassy Luanda encourages all forms of flexible working and, although there can be no guarantees, some degree of flexible working may be considered.
