The British Embassy Tel Aviv has an exciting opportunity for a people-oriented, highly motivated individual to support the British Embassy’s vital work in Israel, primarily via planning and delivering inward visits for delegations covering trade, prosperity and innovation, and supporting large-scale events as Visits and Events Officer, job grade Administrative Officer (AO).

This position is an ideal platform to develop operational and events management skills and experience in a dynamic environment. The Visits and Events Officer oversees coordination and delivery of all aspects of visits ranging from logistics to visit programmes.

Reporting to the Ambassador’s office, the jobholder will also be expected to support Ministerial visits and assist the communications team where needed on flagship events such as the King’s annual Birthday Party.

The successful candidate will work closely with teams across the Embassy to deliver wider objectives.

The main duties and responsibilities for this role include:

  • Lead on trade, prosperity and innovation visits to Israel by UK officials, working cross-Embassy to deliver high-quality programmes. Where needed, support Ministerial visits and provide cover for the Ministerial visit lead.
  • Proactively develop efficient and effective visit programmes at pace and at short notice, liaise with relevant senior UK/Israeli officials, co-ordinate logistics and accompany on visits where appropriate.
  • Work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, to create visit programmes and maintain close working relationships.
  • Process payments and support the management of visit budgets. 
  • Support the Embassy’s communication team to deliver large-scale events throughout the year.
  • Help organise Embassy events, including creative planning, delivery and practical support in the lead-up to events and on the day itself.

The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any other response to a crisis affecting UK Citizens.

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working in an international environment or with international stakeholders.

Eligibility:

If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employ you as long as you:

  • Receive the appropriate level of security clearance; and
  • Are able to work legally in Israel.

Working hours and remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including the non-negotiable salary of NIS 10,300 per month plus social benefits: pension employer contribution 7.5% and Keren Hishtalmut employer contribution 7.5%.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. Parking facilities are not provided nor paid for by the Embassy.

This position is for a full-time employment, on a permanent contract basis. The successful candidate will be on a four (4) month probationary period. 

Working hours is 37.5 per week. Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30. Due to the nature of the work, flexibility will be required including evening events and potential for some local travel.

The jobholder will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working outside of normal office hours (evenings/ weekends) during visits and to attend networking events, receptions, and seminars. Any flexible working patterns (such as combination of office and remote working) may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies.
