Main purpose of job:

Lead videographer for the UKinIndia network, responsible for content production from concept to completion.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

The role

This is a new, specialist role sitting in the UKinIndia digital team. We are looking for a high quality video editor and camera person to lead on video production across the network. Work will be varied and fun – you’ll be creating content on everything from tech partnerships, to consular campaigns, to trade and investment and everything in between. Wherever possible we will be drawing out the human impact of UK/India collaboration. Your job will be to think imaginatively about how to best convey UK messages, and create highly professional pieces of content in order to do so.

You’ll also have a wider role as part of a dynamic digital team, responsible for executing our digital strategy. This will include photography and other content generation work, and covering for other team members (e.g. publishing responsibilities) as required.

Specific job holder responsibilities:

  • Act as lead video editor and camera - person for the UKinIndia network.
  • Manage all videos from concept to completion, ensuring that video products have: a focused and clear message; the right tone to reach defined audiences; accurate information delivered in the appropriate format; and that projects are completed on or before deadlines.
  • Act as in-house photographer and videographer for high profile events, as required.
  • Alongside the rest of the digital team, be responsible for execution of the social media strategy.
  • Provide training and advice to the wider UkinIndia network in order to facilitate better quality filming and photography inputs.
  • Be responsible for the overall “vision” of the network’s video outreach, overseeing multiple video-based projects at a time, and working closely with New Delhi’s social media team, and the digital champions in the deputy high commissions across India to increase the quality and impact of our video output.
  • Provide videography and editing support to the UK’s wider South Asia network, as required. 

 The job holder

This is a specialist role and so we are looking for someone with strong experience in creating and editing compelling video content, and who is enthusiastic, proactive and creative. We are looking for someone who has strong filming and editing skills.

Please note you will be expected to film and produce videos largely single-handedly, so existing wide-ranging knowledge of editing is a must.

  • Two years of work experience in a professional video or multi-media environment
  • Good knowledge of video editing applications like Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro etc and evidenced experience of using these.
  • Ability to shoot high quality footage.

Successful completion of Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Film/Videography, Broadcasting or Multi-media.

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be 57,904 per month together with a 12% provident fund and 6% Special Allowance.

The jobholder will be able to access a wide range of English language online and face-to-face training delivered for the UK government in Britain and abroad. They will have opportunities to access specialist training for government communicators. Much of the learning is on the job, which will be diverse and varied.

Working patterns:

The British High Commission network across India is committed to providing flexible work patterns. While standard hours are 08:30-16:30, with 30 minutes for lunch, the use of mobile ICT and the nature of the job means that the jobholder will be able to work different hours according to their personal circumstances.

Any other information (or specific local Post requirements):

The work of a diplomatic mission can be unusual and can vary day to day. The nature of communications is that you and colleagues will need to be able to flex to support other areas of communications (or even work outside of communications) where necessary, for example during high-profile visits.
