The British Embassy in Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network, representing British interests overseas.

A temporary, maternity cover, position as Administrative Officer (AO) has become available in the Defence section.

The main purpose of the job is to support the Defence Attaché by providing administrative support to improve access and influence to Danish Defence. The AO will help plan and manage activities that enhance the Defence section’s network, keep the Defence Attaché informed of developing areas of interest and build robust relationships in order to enhance military interoperability with Denmark and to strengthen the UK’s position as one of the world’s leading soft powers.

The role entails:

  • General administration of the Defence Section including information management, managing the Defence Section Calendar and Forecast of Events, MS Outlook / Teams. 
  • Managing a Key Leadership Engagement Matrix (KLEM) to enhance the Defence section’s network, at all levels, through personal communication. 
  • Horizon scanning for continuous updates on Danish Defence and Security matters and share insights with wider embassy staff. Identify potential areas for military Science and Technology areas of cooperation with Denmark.
  • Supporting the planning of Defence events, ceremonies and visits.  Plan, design, prioritise and coordinate programmes for official Defence visitors.
  • Providing redundancy for the Defence Attaché and ADA (Assistant Defence Attaché) when absent / on leave where appropriate. In particular, arrange diplomatic clearances for visiting UK military units (Air, Land & Sea), when ADA is absent.

  • Good Information Management / IT / Social Media skills.
  • Clean and valid Driving License.
  • Reliability.

Good to have:

  • Knowledge of the UK Armed Forces and Danish Defence.
  • Knowledge and experience of the UK & UK Culture.
