Main purpose of job:

This is an exciting time to join the British Government team in Australia as the strong relationship between the two countries is amplified by the impending Free Trade Agreement.

This key role provides administrative and operations support for the UK Department for International Trade (DIT) in Perth and reports directly to the Head of Office.  The job holder will work collaboratively across DIT and the wider UK Government networks providing day-to-day support on visits, programme creation, project work and administration. 

The job holder will report to the Head of Office (WA) and form part of a wider UK network at the British Consulate Perth.

This position is full time (1.0 FTE).

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

The job holder will provide high quality administrative support to the Head of Office ensuring day to day activities, meetings, internal and external visits and events run smoothly;

They will assist with the organisation of events and visits and provide support on arranging programmes and logistics for Ministerial, VIP and other official visits;

Support the British Business Network in Perth by arranging networking events biannually and maintaining up to date contact lists and marketing collateral;

Provide research support as necessary on commercial, economic and political issues for speeches, analysis or operational business.

Capture and record DIT interactions with senior executives in a wide range of businesses. These interactions include major existing investors in the UK and major UK companies doing business in Perth.

Maintain close and effective working relationships with the DIT network in Australia and New Zealand and complementary UK Government and platform partners. Regional travel may be required.

The role will include some strategic support and assistance to the broader DIT team, the British Consulate staff at Post and the wider UK in Australia network.

Full time employment (38 hrs), with occasional out of working hours for events and travel.

Working from home is acceptable for some elements of this role.
