The British Embassy in Jakarta is seeking a programme officer to support the monitoring and delivery of programmes on Health. The successful candidate will support the Programme Manager in building relationships and working closely with delivery partners, the central and regional Government in Indonesia, businesses, Non-Governmental-Organisations (NGOs) and other external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the programme. The programme officer will coordinate with colleagues at the British Embassy and in the UK to ensure the programme delivers inclusive economic growth, to achieve UK policy objectives and to ensure that the programme complies with rules for Overseas Development Assistance.

The post will be based at the British Embassy in Jakarta, a vibrant, international organisation, committed to diversity and staff development. Flexible and remote working options will be considered positively.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to play an influential role in high-profile and strategic development initiatives of the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in Indonesia, specifically in the Health sector.

Roles and responsibilities:

The key responsibilities are to support the health relationship and programme delivery in accordance with the FCDO Programme Operating Framework (e.g procurement rules, gender equality, women’s economic empowerment and inclusive growth) by:

  1. Gathering information and advising the team on procurement options and requirements and support them through selection and contracting processes, drawing on FCDO expertise
  2. Working with programme manager and delivery partners and to agree on key milestones, outcomes, outputs, timelines and deliverables.
  3. Working closely with delivery partners to make sure the activities are implemented in line with key milestones and in accordance with HMG’s rules and standards. Flag up to management team when risks arise.
  4. Supporting delivery, events and visits through engaging with stakeholders, logistical coordination for high level meetings, delegation visits, events and workshops.
  5. Supporting financial planning, procurement, progress monitoring, reviews, audits and and evaluations.
  6. Highlighting opportunities and supporting communications to leverage the programmes’ outcomes.
  7. Helping the team develop and maintain the relationships with the Ministry and sector, through maintaining contact and access and supporting arrangements (eg logistics and briefing) for high level meetings.

The successful candidate will be based at the British Embassy Jakarta, and will report to the Health Programme Manager.

  • Proven project and budget management skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to engage credibly with government and sector stakeholders
  • Highly motivated, with good organisational skills
  • Language: Good in English. Fluent Bahasa Indonesia
  • Project and financial management experience
  • FCDO or other government experience
  • Health sector experience
  • Knowledge of Indonesian Government structure both centrally and regionally
