The British Embassy, Riyadh has a vacancy for a Maintenance Technician- Electrical, Grade S1 (L).

Objective:

The British Embassy, Riyadh has a vacancy for a Technical Works Group – Maintenance Technician, Grade S1 (L) position. As the Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for all routine maintenance, repairs and minor works projects on the British Embassy estate in Riyadh; comprising of offices, residential accommodation, amenities and grounds. Working within a small team of directly employed artisans and local contractors, you will ensure that all facilities are operated and maintained in accordance with relevant technical and health & safety standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

-       To carry out preventive maintenance tasks for essential building services, plant and equipment including:

  • LV electrical distribution and electrical installations;
  • Split air conditioning, package A/C units and AHU’s;
  • Standby generators;
  • Fire protection systems;
  • Water services;
  • Swimming pools and associated water treatment plant;
  • Security gates / vehicle barriers etc.;
  • External security lighting

-       Perform and document Property Inspections and Hazard Risk Assessments (for which training can be given) for both residential and office.

-       Support Corporate Services in sourcing external quotes and related docs for maintenance works where required and liaise with external contractors when on site.

-       Completion of maintenance and minor works tasks, according to technical discipline under the direction of the TWS. 

-       Working within a small team of technicians on a day-to-day basis ensuring that the maintenance programme is kept up to date

-       General oversight of the compound.

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English.
  • Holder of a recognised trade qualification ideally in electrical installation plus a further qualification at diploma level in an engineering subject with at least five years operating in a commercial environment.
  • Verbal Hindi or Urdu communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Arabic Speaker an advantage.
  • Holder of a full Saudi drivers licence
  • Experience implementing Health and Safety systems

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role including:

Salary details:

  • Base Salary including Eid Bonus – SAR. 4,485.65/-
  • * Housing Allowance – SAR. 1,121.41/- (subject to eligibility)*
  • * Travel Allowance- SAR. 400/-(subject to eligibility)*

*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form.

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Normal working hours for the Embassy are 08.00 to 15.00 Sunday to Thursday.  This position is full-time, based on 48 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 day probationary period.  

Eligibility:

The position is only available to holders of Saudi residence permits or transferable Iqamas, and successful candidates will be required to transfer their sponsorship to the British Embassy.
