The British Embassy in Hungary is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Trade Adviser to contribute to
the Department for International Trade (DIT) Budapest team’s, the CEN HVCs as well as the Embassy’s Country Business Plan activities.

The DIT helps UK-based companies to succeed in Hungary and other international markets and it works with companies overseas to bring high-quality investment to the UK. The team in Hungary is part of DIT’s Central Europe Network (CEN), which comprises of 10 markets: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • To lead on activities in the defence and security field, including assisting UK companies to find high value business opportunities and partners in Hungary and carrying out market research as appropriate;
  • To lead on activities in the financial services field including assisting UK companies to find business opportunities and partners in Hungary and carrying out market research as appropriate;
  • To regularly review public and private tendering websites to identify business/export opportunities for UK companies in Hungary, and uploading documents onto the corporate system on behalf of the whole DIT Budapest team;
  • To carry out data analysis and data recording; events organisation; budget management support; and contacts database management with a view to supporting the team`s prosperity and high value activities.
  • Fluency in English and Hungarian (both oral and written);
  • College / University level degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience;
  • At least 1 year of previous work experience in an administrative position;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work co-operatively with others;
  • Excellent IT skills, especially database management, MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills; attention to detail.
  • Experience of stakeholder and customer management;

  • An understanding of the UK and Hungarian business environments, particularly the defence and security sector.

This is a full-time position of 5 days (35 hours net per week) for 12 months (3 month probation). 

Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for extra hours worked.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance. You must have pre-existing work authorisation for Hungary in order to apply.
