Main purpose of job
To provide administrative support to the different sectors that the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) of the British Embassy in Guatemala City manages. The DBT Intern will report to the Trade Officer in Guatemala City and support the day-to-day operations of the commercial team.
The successful candidate will support British commercial interests in both Guatemala and Honduras and promote cross-sector collaboration with trade and investment activities, support and develop relationships with UK and Guatemalan/Honduran companies and deliver an effective programme of activities focused on highlighting UK expertise across different sectors.
The intern will also undertake research activities as well as support face-to-face and virtual events in Guatemala and Honduras.

Roles and responsibilities
Stipend: Q100 per day
Applicants must have the legal status to live and work in Guatemala at the time of application. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount. Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6 months, the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.
Working patterns
This role is in-person and part-time at 20 hours per week (schedule subject to discussion with line manager). Please note that due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate may be required to work occasional evenings/nights due to official events and networking receptions.
