View Vacancy - Internal Only - Building Maintenance Technician, Washington D.C.
Main purpose of job:
The Building Maintenance Technician is an integral member of the Estates Maintenance team. The Estates Maintenance team is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a large residential and commercial Estate comprising of approximately 100 houses and 3 commercial buildings.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Assist with general carpentry duties to include: Repairing or replacing trim, moulding and general woodworking, fencing, estimating, window maintenance, and pricing and blue print reading.
- Assist with remodelling of kitchens to include: cabinetry work, replacing counter tops, flooring, and back splash installation.
- Assist with basic furniture repair with chairs, tables, and hard furniture to include: clamping, gluing, tacking, shaving doors, etc.
- Assist with locksmith duties to include: installing and repairing locks and door closers at both Residential and Commercial properties, replacing locks when customers lose keys
- Lead and assist on minor construction work to include: drywall work, installation of acoustical ceiling grid and panel installation, hanging doors and other door/closet work in both Residential and Commercial properties
- Perform minor roof and gutter repairs including gutter guards, regular inspections of drains, roofs, and gutters including seasonal cleaning.
- Perform removal and installation of carpet and carpet tiles in both Residential and Commercial properties, installation of cove base, and floor patching.
- Order materials from internet sources or order and pick-up from various local suppliers.
- Miscellaneous duties to include: assisting other maintenance workers in conference room set-up, snow removal, ice-melt spreading in compound and furniture removal, being a team leader on larger projects with other estates maintenance staff and contractors.

Essential on arrival:
- A minimum of 2 years practical maintenance experience is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence. Basic IT data entry skills.
- Good customer service and communication skills are essential.
- Must be able to lift a moderate amount of weight.
- Trained on various power tools and bench machinery related to job.
- Trained on health and safety aspects of work-related duties including asbestos awareness/removal, ladder safety, and the use of power tools

Level of language required: Proficient
Desirable:
Any other trade related experience i.e. Basic Electrical, Plumbing and Painting.
Working patterns:
Monday to Friday 0730 – 1600. Occasional overtime and weekend work as required. Potential to be part of the on-call team.
