As part of the Department for International Trade (DIT) at the Embassy in Mexico City, the main purpose of this position is to support Mexico’s and Colombia’s FDI Teams to promote relevant Investment opportunities in the UK, in order to incentivise and increase the UK’s FDI.

The job entails liaising with key contacts and partners in the UK, Mexico and Colombia, carrying out business and market research to share commercial intelligence with interested parties, replying to Mexican and Colombian companies enquiries on the UK ecosystem, assisting in the delivery of commercial missions and events, project management of existing  pipeline and lead generation as well as keeping track of administrative tasks.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Supporting senior levels on advising investors and prospecting investors from Mexico & Colombia with market reports, connections, advice and general support on internationalising to the UK.

  • Conducting business and market research as needed.

  • Monitoring the media/ internet for opportunities and bringing relevant information to the attention of colleagues in the UK and other parts of the Mexico team (including the Future Cities Virtual Team).

  • Following up on enquiries of Mexican/Colombian companies.

  • Attending meetings with relevant sector stakeholders as well as relevant trade fairs and exhibitions (when needed).

  • Assisting in the organisation of activities/events/missions/visits.

  • Preparing sector-focused presentations.

  • Keeping track of and updating databases, CRM system (Data Hub) to ensure our pipeline and engagement activities are up to date.

  • Assisting in communication with members of the FDI regional team (Argentina, Brazil, Chile)

  • Performing other administrative tasks as required.

  • Supporting with aftercare and companies’ expansion plans, mainly throughout their involvement in the LATAC Investors Club Initiative.

The selected candidate will be required to work from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday from 8:00am to 2:00pm and be available for occasional overtime as required. 

There may be occasional requirement to travel to other locations within and outside Mexico.


Language: English and Spanish

Level of language required: exellent verbal and written skills.  


  • Ability to research and complete administrative tasks in time and form/ some translation English-Spanish abilities

  • At least one year of experience working to support international investors

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in economics, trade, business administration, finance, statistics or international relations related subjects. Or appropriate business experience.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills



    • Evidence of trade or investment related employment
    • Previous work experience and/or knowledge on business.

    • Knowledge of the UK offer to foreign investors.

    • Experience of both the UK and Latin American business environments and cultures.

    • Proficient user of MS Office (especially Excel) and previous experience with CRM
