View Vacancy - Political Intern (POL404)
The British Embassy in Warsaw is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an Intern to work in our Political team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of diplomacy, while working in a fast paced, dynamic and bilingual environment.
The main purpose of the job is to support the Political Team in the delivery of the Embassy’s objectives in Poland with administrative support, research and translation and provide policy support on a range of Economic, EU Exit and Foreign and Security portfolios as demand arises.
Main duties / Responsibilities:
- Support the Political Section by conducting ad-hoc research, providing translation, attending and writing up meetings/seminars/conferences and working flexibly to help the section respond effectively to short-notice requests;
- Provide organisational and administrative support for policy colleagues (e.g. by organising meetings, managing the section calendar and event guest lists and undertaking general office work etc);
- Support the Political Section and perform tasks as required by changing workloads and demands.
- Proficient English and Polish (both oral and written);
- Obtained or in the process of obtaining a Bachelor degree in a related field;
- Interest in communications, public relations, and international relations;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and on own initiative;
- Good communication and organisational skills;
- Good knowledge of the Polish media landscape;
- Competent with advanced Twitter and Facebook functions;
- Competent with Microsoft Office Software, including Microsoft Access.
This is a one month full-time internship contract. The monthly gross remuneration for the internship is PLN 2000.
Please note that interns are responsible for paying themselves any income tax required by the local law to the applicable Tax Office. Please be aware that the British Embassy in Warsaw will not be able to cover any costs connected with relocation.
Candidates must have pre-existing work authorisation for Poland in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
Internships offered at the British Embassy are governed by the Polish Civil Code.
