The British Embassy, Doha has a vacancy for a Corporate Services Officer - Estates, Grade A2 (L).

The Role:

As the Corporate Services Officer - Estates you will be responsible for overseeing all routine maintenance, repairs and minor works projects on the British Embassy estate in Doha; comprising of offices, residential accommodation, amenities and grounds. Direct line management of one other permanent member of staff. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee a small team of contactors to ensure that all facilities are operated and maintained in accordance with relevant technical and health & safety standards. You will be required to take a hands-on approach, undertaking some aspects of maintenance works yourself (appropriate to your skill set) and lead by example to deliver an excellent customer service.

This role is likely to suit a qualified person from an engineering background who has experience in electrical engineering and health and safety related activities. A background in facilities management is desirable.

• Responsible for compiling and maintaining a comprehensive asset register for the estate;

• Responsible for the completion of the Property Compliance Assessment and any remedial action required;

• Delivering the office air quality monitoring policy;

• Pre domestic move inspections and identifying any remedial action required;

• Delivery of a documented preventative planned maintenance (PPM) system for essential building services, plant and equipment, including;

             o LV electrical distribution and electrical installations;

             o Air conditioning system;

             o Standby generator;

             o Fire protection systems;

             o All water services;

             o Swimming pool and associated water treatment plant;

             o Decoration;

             o External lighting.

• Supervise and direct a small team of contractors on a day-to-day basis ensuring that the maintenance programme is kept up to date and well documented;

• Liaise between the local contractors with respect to maintenance and minor building works;

• Ensuring risk assessments are carried out and adhered to;

• Assist in defining requirements and maintaining and organising stocks of essential spares, materials and equipment;

• Occasional support to other colleagues within Corporate Services.

• English (the ability to speak, read and write);

• Hold a recognised trade qualification ideally in Electrical Installation plus a further qualification at diploma level in an engineering subject;

• 5 years works experience in an commercial or residential environment;

• Good communication and customer service skills;

• IT literate and able to use the Microsoft Office Suite of Software (Outlook, Word, Excel);

• A positive ‘can do’ approach to work and the ability to work as part of a team;

• Experience in the supervision of people employed on maintenance activities.

• A further qualification at diploma level in an engineering subject;

• Implementing Health & Safety systems;

• Current first Aid certificate;

• Drafting and implementation of PPM programmes;

• A background in facilities management.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package, including non-negotiable salary of QR 11,294/- per calendar month and transportation allowance of QR 800 per calendar month, paid in arrears. The Embassy offers a generous leave allocation and is committed to staff development.

The position is offered on a non-sponsored basis and due to the nature of the work, some flexibility on hours may be required. 

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Embassy working hours are 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on Thursday. 

The successful candidate will need to commence security clearance procedures through the Embassy.

Eligibility:

Candidate must hold a valid Qatar ID.

Process:

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two months.
