View Vacancy - Security Guard (POL053)
The British Embassy in Poland is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Security Guard.
The main purpose of the job is to maintain day-to-day control of visitors/contractors/staff/vehicles entering the Embassy gates and to ensure that a high level security services complying with FCO security regulations are rendered for the Embassy.
We would be looking to attract female applicants as a priority, as some of the duties will be related to dealing with female visitors in line with required security protocols.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To identify visitors and contractors and issue them with security passes.
- To search visitors/contractors and vehicles proficiently before they enter the embassy premises.
- To monitor camera system.
- Using the X-Ray mail scanner check all mail and parcels arriving at the embassy.
- Where necessary escort workmen and contractors in the embassy premises.
- Daily checks of the compound and surrounding area.
- Assistance to the Post Security Manager in every day duties.
- Min. 2 years professional experience in security environment.
- Basic oral and written English and Polish.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Track record of good teamwork and delivering high quality customer service.
- Proven organisational skills.
- Ability to analyse problems and come up with workable solutions.
- Basic IT skills (including MS Vista, Word, Outlook, Excel, internet).
- Team work approach as well as ability to take initiative and lead in the areas of expertise.
This is a full-time position of 5 days (with 8 hours shifts) for a two year contract which may be extended by mutual agreement.
Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law. Please be aware that the British Embassy in Warsaw will not be able to cover any costs connected with relocation.
The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.
Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.
Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
