View Vacancy - Corporate Services Assistant, A1 Istanbul (TUR071)
The British Consulate General in Istanbul is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is seeking a Corporate Services Assistant to join its Business Hospitality and Housekeeping team.
Duties will include supporting the Business Hospitality and Events Manager with housekeeping and administration of in-house catering. The Corporate Services Assistant is expected to display a pleasant and professional demeanour at all times. This role may include shift, evening, and weekend work.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
- Assist the Business Hospitality and Events Manager:
- with the logistics, scheduling and catering services for events hosted by Her Majesty’s Consul-General and/or Her Majesty’s Ambassador.
- in the supervision of the Housekeeping team, provide support to the team and section when necessary.
- in coordination of other corporate events.
- Resident waiter/waitress duties in the Consulate-General, serving food and drinks to the highest formal standards.
- Liaise directly with florists, assist in planning and placing the orders for events hosted by Her Majesty’s Consul-General and/or Her Majesty’s Ambassador.
- Liaise with all stakeholders related to own area, such as dry cleaners, cleaning material suppliers and catering companies.
- Provide diary management support to the Business Hospitality and Events Manager on a daily basis and make necessary preparations as required.
- Ensure that the technical setup equipment at the event venues and meeting rooms are maintained and stored safely and appropriately.
- Create requests for the Technical Works Group as and when required.
- Control stationery stocks; ordering and supply, monitoring the consumption of official stocks, keep up to date stock lists.
- Liaise with the Cook for each event, supporting the Business Hospitality and Events Manager with the menu preparation procedures, shopping, food service and table set up.
- Administration of a small imprest account, cash and Corporate Credit Card expenditure related to the Business Hospitality team.
- Fluent Turkish is a must.
- Reasonable command of spoken and written English.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office programmes).
- Be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Be able to work under pressure and complete tasks to an agreed standard.
- Waiter/Waitress skills and cleaning experience in fine dining establishments or hotels is preferable.
- Experience of working in, and caring for, historic buildings is an asset.
- Knowledge of wines, spirits and other beverages, and how to serve them appropriately is an advantage.
- Experience in hospitality sector would be an advantage.

This is a full-time permanent contract for 5 working days per week.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.
The annual salary for this position is 44,233.6TL gross A1 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.
