The British Embassy in Bucharest is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking to recruit a Regional Lead of the CEN HVC on Nuclear Energy and Deputy Head of Department of International Trade (DIT) Section.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning of the entire DIT trade nuclear activity in the CEN Region + Finland (managing the pipeline in HVC nuclear and other targets at regional level, campaign risk file, etc.) and especially with the DIT Teams from Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia and Finland, the ones having nuclear programmes in the market;
  • Develop successful relationships as the CEN’s Key account manager within the UK and with major clients;
  • Project management of campaign events and activities, assigning leading responsibilities to other members of the regional team for organising local initiatives and projects;
  • Manage and monitor the campaign budget (inc. travel);
  • Support the Head of DIT Romania in leading the team, in the decision-making process and on budgets, including other HVCs especially Infrastructure (rail & airports), energy (other value) amoung others.
  • Management and delivery of the CEN HVC Nuclear Energy Campaign pipeline, in close relation with the national leads and with HoTIs on specific market activities, in order to meet the main overall target on EWs (value and number), but also to pay attention to other regional targets for Volume such information on opportunities in the region (EOs), paid enquiry work (OMIS) and investment projects;
  • Managing the Campaign risk file in agreement with the other colleagues in the region, taking the responsibility for tactical changes to campaign to keep delivery on track and delivery of targets;
  • Develop successful relationships as the CEN’s Key account manager within the UK and with major clients, using contacts and specialist knowledge, promoting the UK as a key partner in this field;
  • Contribute to regional efforts to represent the interests and maintaining the reputation of the CEN, managing the expectations of the DIT sector group and of the other stakeholders, helping to ensure continued priority, support and resources for the region;
  • Using knowledge of the nuclear sector to provide leadership to the extended campaign team;
  • Line management of a Senior trade adviser (B3(L)) in Bucharest;
  • Report to Regional Director, who has ultimate responsibility for meeting the region’s campaign targets;
  • Quarterly and Annual reporting to CEN Board and London on Campaign performance-related issues;
  • Local lead on other CEN sectors (e.g. airports, rail and conventional energy);
  • Support the Head of DIT Romania in leading the team, in the decision-making process and on budgets in order to ensure delivery of the Central Europe Network (CEN) regional DIT Business Planning and implementation of the UK Government’s strategy and approach for growth and prosperity.

 

  • At least 5 years experience of working in a commercial environment;
  • A record of delivering commercial results;
  • Strong team leadership skills, with the ability to bring diverse teams together to work toward common goals;
  • Strategic commercial and economic awareness;
  • An innovative attitude especially towards customer service and performance management;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with customers and stakeholders;
  • Fluency in English and Romanian, both oral and written is essential;
  • Strong IT computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office and Internet.
  • Experience of working in (or with) the nuclear sector or a related field in energy;
  • Experience with Oracle systems and databases preferred;
  • Previous work experience in trade/marketing department promoting produts or services with big clients;
  • Finance experience desirable in forecasting budget for events.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time position of 5 days (35 hours net per week) for a 1 year contract which may be extended by a mutual agreement. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked.

The annual leave entitlement is 21 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Romanian / UK public holidays per year.

Monthly salary is 8362 RON gross. In addition, staff are entitled to a 13th month salary pro rata and may receive a performance related bonus at year end. Staff also receive meal vouchers and a monthly subscription to a medical centre.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of 45 days.
