Main purpose of job:
The Procurement & Stores Assistant is an important administrative role within the British High Commission Dhaka. You will work in the Technical Works Group (TWG) office of the British High Commission. TWG provides facilities management covering all residential accommodation and office buildings in the British High Commission. We are looking for a team player who is confident, hardworking, honest, having strong stores and inventory management skills. The successful applicant should also have strong office administrative skills and a good standard of written English.
As the Procurement Assistant, we are expected to make purchases for the TWG team using GPC or raising purchase orders, while following BHC internal policies. As the purchase requisitioner you are also expected to keep track that spend is within TWG budget.
As the Stores Assistant you are expected to do regular maintenance of the TWG Stores. Issue and deliver the goods as per the work requests. Update the record every day. Stock check and order the goods to stock up if goes down and enter the record into the card.
You will co-ordinate with - UK based officers and the technical works team. You will liaise with the Procurement Hub and report to Procurement & Stores Supervisor.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
- Receive & issue of all stock items daily and as per work request.
- Assist in Store replenishment of procured items.
- Assist to keep records & filing.
- Maintenance of accurate stock control via a PC based stock inventory.
- Able to communicate with TWG team and deliver requested materials.
- To communicate and understand written and verbal English.
- Issue & receive of Electric Float items and keep record into the system as per works requests.
- Check and maintain a list of home appliances/white goods and replenish as necessary.
- Monitor daily current stock levels to decide if more stock should be ordered, as well as organizing existing inventory, so easily and safely accessible.
- Communicate with the local supplier to place orders as per demand or stock level.
- Checking and inspecting goods received and ensuring they are accurate quantities as per orders and deliveries.
- On a daily basis ensure stockroom is clean and tidy.
- Make sure that all inventory processes are entered onto stock system cards and are completed in a timely manner.
- Make sure hazardous items (under COSHH) are kept in designated areas.
- Raise PC generated Requisitions when required and distribute the Purchase Orders accordingly.
- Maintain tooling and test regular update record card.
- Maintain Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in accordance with British HSE requirements.
- Suggest solutions for continuous improvements.
- Take quote from suppliers and maintain supplier contracts for values less than £25k

Level of language required: Good
A language test will be administered

Essential on arrival:
Good level of English
IT Skills: Basic computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Oracle)
Education: Minimum of an undergraduate degree in any discipline
Experience working in an international organisation or diplomatic mission.
An IELTS score of 6 or above
For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Country Based Staff Terms & Conditions will apply.
The salary will be all inclusive of BDT 85,408 per month.
