A Full Time, Fixed term contract as described below has arisen in the British Embassy for a Project Assistant to the Embassy Attaché Officer.

Duties and responsibilities:

Main role

Assist the law enforcement attaché to manage the formation of a Project in support of UK and host agency priorities. To manage the training of local officers in various countries in the region, where they will need to understand their own work area and have a general understanding of the links to other work conducted in the region.   This role will include organising workloads, monitoring work flow, training and development, mentoring and coaching of a variety of host officers and UK based contractors. They will be responsible for managing their own time and reporting to senior officers on progress and capacity but will be expected to work with limited supervision. They will be expected to act independently of their manager with regard to the day-to-day management of their own work. They will carry out the initial examination of problems within clear guidelines and make recommendations for solutions. This role requires an exceptionally high level of discretion and integrity as well as being flexible on their working location. They will also have to prepare and monitor the cost centre's budget on the manager's behalf.

 Roles and responsibilities include: 

  • To conduct arrangements for the creation of a project :to include
  • Training delivery arrangements
  • Managing the vetting process for the project
  • Equipment order and installation, ensuring compliance with NCA policies
  • Building works to existing buildings
  • Maintenance of equipment registers
  • Providing detailed accounting of spending to HMG standards
  • Organise various events;
  • Publishing and Maintaining all policies and procedures  
  • Analyse data produced from Project and present results / findings;
  • Carry out general financial administration including the payment of invoices;
  • Attend meetings as and when required in support of attaché
  • Assist in maintaining host nation relationships.
  • Assist the Local Liaison assistant when required

Essential on arrival 

  • Excellent spoken and written English is essential;
  • Excellent spoken and written Arabic is essential
  • Excellent organisation skills with a keen eye for detail;
  • Excellent persuasion, guidance and negotiation skills required
  • Good IT skills, in particular the ability to order and analyse data utilising the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • A high level of flexibility, discretion and integrity.
  • Successful security clearance both from UK and Tunisia (following successful application).
  • Previous experience in working within an NCA Project environment would be highly desirable.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

Conditioned working hours are 40 hours gross per week. These will be flexible, to be deployed according to operational requirements. 

The British Embassy in Tunisia offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. The salary will be negotiated according to skills and experience. 

Initial gross salary will be TND 2,832 per month while on probation, TND 3,506 per month after probation. 

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 day probationary period.  The appointment is also subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.

Eligibility

  • Must be immediately eligible to live and work in Tunisia.
