The British Embassy, Doha has a vacancy for a Senior Commercial Attache, Grade C4 (L) position.  The position is offered on a fixed term basis for three months.

Objective:

The Senior Commercial Attache will be responsible for providing British companies with the information and support they require to make informed business decisions and achieve success in Qatar and supporting the DIT team by building knowledge and a pipeline of projects in the Agro-Tech/ Food and drink sector 70%.  The successful candidate will also develop an Overseas Direct Investment portfolio of opportunities and what the Qatar government offer is to possible investors 30%.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide new and experienced British companies with the information they require to make informed business decisions by handling market research enquiries and building a pipeline of 15 business opportunities in the Agro-Tech, food and drink sector.  Conducting visits, writing appropriate reports and creating ODI opportunities for British companies across the sectors.
  • Maintaining records of our contact with customers on our global Customer Relationship Management system. Any other duties as required by the Deputy Director for Trade.
  • Briefing British businesses and responding to enquiries.   Helping lead officers plan and deliver events and visits, including trade missions and VIP visits.

Essential:

  • Ideally, some knowledge of Qatar business environment.
  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong IT computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office and Internet
  • Customer service skills
  • Able to organise own workload, ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience in data entry and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience of the agro tech and food and drink sector.
  • Experience of working in a large team and of working in the GCC.

Working hours and Remuneration:

The British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package, including non-negotiable salary of QR 22,147 per calendar month and transportation allowance of QR800 per calendar month, paid in arrears. The contract will be a full time- fixed term contract for three months with a review after the 3 months of a possible extension. The position is offered on a non sponsored basis and due to the nature of the work, some flexibility on hours will be required. 

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Embassy working hours are 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on Thursday. 

The successful candidate will need to commence security clearance procedures through the Embassy.

Candidate must hold a valid Qatar ID.
