View Vacancy - Residence Chef (LUX19.007)
The British Embassy in Luxembourg is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is currently looking to recruit a full-time Residence Chef.
Main Purpose of Job:
Provide high-quality catering for the Ambassador’s Residence in Luxembourg, and wider Residence support as needed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- The job-holder will be the Chef at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Luxembourg. They will be responsible for preparing high-quality working meals (breakfast, lunch, dinners) and refreshments for senior stakeholders from Luxembourg the UK and other partners e.g. EU institutions, to support engagement by the Ambassador and, as needed, other Embassy staff. The job-holder will also be responsible for preparing catering for Embassy events, with support from other Residence staff and catering contractors as needed;
- As part of their responsibilities, the job-holder will need to select and buy the necessary ingredients for preparing meals and catering, as well as other kitchen equipment where necessary;
- The jobholder may be required to provide wider Residence support e.g. helping with set-up for major events.
- Proficiency in French and at least basic English (oral and written);
- Ability to demonstrate chef skills to the highest level and ability to create new, high-quality dishes;
- Professional knowledge of cooking ingredients and procedures;
- Excellent kitchen management and food hygiene control;
- Being able to work under pressure and complete tasks to a high standard;
- Excellent organisational, communication and planning skills;
- Valid driving licence;
This is a full-time position, for a 12 months fixed-term contract.
The advertised annual salary includes a 13th month salary bonus payment which is also part of the remuneration pack.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Luxembourg are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Luxembourgish employment law.
Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Luxembourg and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
