The British Embassy in Baghdad is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of ITSO and Corporate Services Support Officer, Grade – A2 (L).

 

Purpose of the job:

Assisting IT Manager to provide IT support to staff and act as local Help Desk support responding to queries, including support of telecommunications and video-conferencing and support to the delivery of an efficient and effective Corporate Services Team in a busy Post.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assisting IT Manager to provide support to end user devices and act as local Help Desk support for both DFID and FCO UK government IT systems, responding to queries, including support of telecommunications and video conferencing.
  • Supervise maintenance of IT equipment.
  • Asset Management – Monthly mobile, ECHO phones, DSTV and internet bills.
  • Management of inventory for phones, dongles, and other IT equipment.
  • Manage IT Stores inventory.
  • Translation and Note Verbale records.
  • Assist other Corporate Service staff with Stationary, PPE equipment and clearances of diplomatic bags and other consignments during staff absences.

Essential:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic (both spoken and written).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience as an IT Assistant for an International Organisation
  • Qualification or degree in IT or HND, computer networking, hardware and internet operation
  • Ability to work in a team, with strong customer focus skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS suite of applications
  • Experience of installation and maintenance of desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and server hardware and software

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The starting salary for the role is $1,571 payable 13 times per year. In addition a monthly allowance of US$300 for security is payable. The allowance is subject to review and may be altered or withdrawn at any time. The British Embassy also runs a performance related pay scheme and supports training and development for all staff.

This position is offered on British Embassy Baghdad’s Terms and conditions.

Normal working hours are Sunday - Wednesday 0800 – 1600 and Thursday 0800-1400. Due to the nature of the work, some flexibility on working hours will be required; time off in lieu will be arranged. The annual leave entitlement is 20 days plus up to 14 days public holidays [UK/Iraq]. Other benefits include the Embassy medical scheme (which also covers close dependents) and access to onsite facilities including a canteen.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 day probationary period.
