The British Embassy in Amman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Project Officer, Grade – B3 (L).

Purpose of the job:

This is an exciting position helping to deliver the UK Government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF). Based in the Embassy’s CSSF Team, which implements programmes totalling around £33m per year, you will manage delivery of a number of UK projects.   

Main Responsibilities:

• Co-management (with the Programme Manager for the Political Stability Programme) of £9m of projects, including managing implementing partners, monitoring and evaluation, ensuring value for money, risk management, and communications

• Scoping and designing new project and research interventions, focusing on the fields of youth and the rule of law

• Identifying and implementing improvements so that projects deliver the greatest possible benefits for Jordan and the UK

• Scrutiny of financial information received from implementers, and resolving problems to ensure effective spend

• Organising and attending project-related events, encouraging experience-sharing between project partners, and staying abreast of research and developments on Jordanian politics

• Coordinating with other donors and the international community, and engagement with key Jordanian Government and civil society stakeholders

• Persuasive engagement with British Embassy and UK Government colleagues, including senior officials such as the Ambassador, to ensure the successful delivery of our Partnership with Jordan

• Responding flexibly and actively to evolving priorities and needs

Essential:

• Fluent oral and written English and Arabic

• A Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field

• Minimum two years’ experience of successfully delivering development or political programmes/projects in an international context, preferably in a bilateral or multilateral aid agency

• Knowledge of Jordanian politics and society

• Candidates should be highly organised and able to work in a diverse, high-performing environment.

• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build productive working relations with project implementers and wider stakeholders

• Proven ability to take responsibility for own work, with a track record as a team player

• Strong analytical and decision-making skills are required to deliver projects in a dynamic environment

• Experience of managing budgets and working with financial information.

• Literacy in Microsoft Office packages.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

This position is graded as B3 (L), with a salary of JOD 1,546 per month. For a One (1) year Fixed Term Contract. The package includes a good level of health insurance and a friendly, English-speaking work environment. Leave entitlement is 28 days plus 14 public holidays. 

The contract is subject to terms and conditions of service according to Jordanian Labour Law. You must already have (or be able to obtain) the right to work in Jordan. You will be required to undergo security clearance.

If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employ you as long as you:

  • Receive the appropriate level of standard security clearance;

  • Have (or be willing to obtain) the right to live and work in Jordan.
