Security

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for managing day to day security and ensuring a safe and secure environment for the British Embassy in Manila. Working with the Corporate services team in regard to all aspects of Fire Safety and Health and Safety.

Security (70%)

  • Lead on day-to-day management of all aspects of security for the British Embassy Manila, supporting the Regional Overseas Security Manager and Post Security Officer in implementation of security policy and recommendations.
  • Act as main point of contact with local police, law enforcement agencies and other relevant partners in country to develop and maintain good working relationships.
  • Work closely with the facility management provider in management, training and coordination of Embassy Guard force.
  • Lead on security clearances for country based staff, conducting security briefings and inductions.
  • Management and testing of Embassy communication, security and crisis equipment.
  • Carry out security requirements and role as specified in the Crisis Management plan.
  • Complete security assessments on Embassy, hotels, venues and properties as required.
  • Assist in preparation and coordination of security for Embassy events and VIP visits.
  • Assist with completion of travel risk assessments, recces and briefings for travellers to areas where the FCDO advises against travel within the Philippines.

Health and Safety (15%)

  • Health and Safety Coordinator for the British Embassy
  • Work proactively with managers to develop, implement and maintain a health and safety strategy
  • Identify and report on any hazards, risks or incidents
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all statutory and legal requirements

Fire safety (15%)

  • Fire Safety Manager for the British Embassy
  • Responsible for ensuring emergency evacuation plans are up to date
  • Coordinate and train fire wardens and conduct fire drills
  • Complete Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans

RESOURCES MANAGED:

  • Management of outsourced guard force and misc. security budget, including allowances.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in effectively managing security teams, demonstrating the knowledge and skills required to assess and apply security of physical environments or comparable experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in coordinating and liaising with local government, local law enforcement agencies and other security entities, including in crisis/disaster situations.
  • Excellent organisational skills demonstrating an ability to work flexibly and unsupervised, maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Relevant PC experience using MS Office

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Language: English / Tagalog
  • Level of Language Required: Fluent; written & spoken
  • A recognised professional Security Risk Management qualification or training.
  • A working understanding of digital radio and other communication systems.
  • A working understanding of technical security system (CCTV, Automated Access Control Systems, etc.)
  • A formal health and safety and fire safety qualification

The British Embassy offers a competitive compensation package, 36-hour work week, guaranteed 13th and 14th month pay, 20 days paid annual leave (calculated on Pro-rata basis if joined after 1 January), extensive medical insurance, life insurance and access to a guaranteed 5 days of learning opportunities a year. 

The salary for the role is Php52,500 per month plus 10% on call allowance.

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Manila is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Philippine employment law.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
