View Vacancy - ROK - Political and Protocol Assistant A1
Job Holder will provide organisational and logistical support to the Political Team and to the EA to the Ambassador. The successful applicant will work closely with the wider Embassy, as well as with the Korean Government, Parliamentarians and civil society to deliver UK objectives.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Political (50%)
- Support the Political Team with relationship management by maintaining and updating efficient contact databases, political lists/organograms, and by supporting planning and implementation of effective political engagement strategies.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Political Team in organising events throughout the year.
- Assist delivery of high-impact visit programmes by providing logistics and protocol arrangements for UK visitors including Ministers.
- Provide administrative support for UK projects including a programme called English for the Future (EFF), which provides English language support to North Korean defectors.
- Provide administrative assistance to Political Counsellor and other colleagues as required.
Protocol (50%)
- Provide daily assistance to Executive Assistant to the Ambassador in translating invitations and other information as necessary.
- Assist EA in organising Ambassador hosted events at the Residence and elsewhere, in particular the annual Queen’s Birthday Party.
- Cover as PS to Deputy Head of Mission during his/her absence.
There will also be the opportunity to contribute to various other corporate initiatives in support of the wider Embassy’s work.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in an office-based environment;
- Project management skills;
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task;
- A self-starter, able to work independently with limited supervision;
- Proficiency in English and Korean;
- Ability to engage with senior colleagues and high level external stakeholders with credibility;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience of working in an Embassy or within the office of a major international organisation.
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15 (17:00 on Fridays). However, occasional evening and weekend working may be required, for which time off in lieu is given.
