The British Embassy in Sweden is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are now looking to recruit an Estates Support Assistant (Maintenance) to provide effective maintenance support services for the Estates Team, meeting all Health & Safety requirements and commitments in the Corporate Services charter. 

The Estates Support assistant will undertake general repairs and maintenance across the Estate, identify and assess required works and complete necessary administration to record completed tasks.

The successful candidate will be structured, organised and systematic by nature with an ability to concentrate on things within their area of expertise. Consistency and the ability to tie up all the loose ends and finish a job will be of importance as well as maintaining quality and standards.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with the Estates Officer to ensure that all planned and reactive maintenance for office and residential property is completed on time in a compliant manner;
  • Ensure that local and UK Health & Safety standards are met at all times;
  • Identify preventative and reactive works required, informing the Estates Officer on a timely basis;
  • Complete required administration to ensure that accurate records are maintained;
  • Ensure all accreditation required for role is maintained and documented;
  • Support other members of the Estates team as required. 
  • Effective Swedish and English language skills (C1 level or above under the CEFR*);
  • Ability to understand and communicate with staff;
  • Relevant Industry experience: HVAC/Maintenance/Facilities/Site work/Ad hoc painting and general maintenance;
  • Knowledge of local Health & Safety laws and procedures;
  • Valid driving Licence;
  • IT / Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook);
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety laws and procedures.

This is a full-time fixed-term position for a contract period of 6 months with the possibility of renewal.
