The British Embassy in Prague is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Security Guard.

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing security for the Embassy premises and to staff and visitors, dealing with customers in person, assisting British Nationals and visitors to the Consular Section.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Control access to the embassy compound and receive visitors arriving on foot and in vehicles;
  • Monitor the security and general safety of the Embassy/Residence;
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems throughout the Embassy/Residence;
  • Report incidents, visitors and vehicles entering the Embassy/Residence in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Ensure visitors to the Consular Section are welcomed and directed politely and efficiently through all necessary security checks;
  • Escort visitors/guests in and around the Embassy/Residence when required and issue appropriate visitors badges;
  • Provide security of events taking place in the Embassy/Residence compound.
  • A proficient English and Czech level (both written and spoken);
  • Good communication skills;
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing environment, strong customer focus;
  • Adaptability and a positive mindset towards working as part of a broader team;
  • Flexibility and a desire to get things done;
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office basics, e-mails, internet).
  • Previous experience as a security guard is an advantage.

This is a full-time position, requiring 8 hrs shift working including weekends and public holidays, as the gatehouse needs to be manned 24/7.

Weekly working hours will be scheduled by the Employer unevenly, whereas the average weekly working hours of the Employee should not exceed 37.5 hours per each period of 26 consecutive weeks.

Shifts:

  • 07:00 - 15:00
  • 15:00 - 23:00
  • 23:00 - 07:00

This is a vacancy for employment of 8 months initially on contract, and can be extended by mutual agreement.

The monthly salary is 27,370 CZK (gross). In addition, staff receive 1,200 CZK in meal vouchers and a 10% shift work allowance.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Prague are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Czech Republic employment law.

VISA Requirements: Must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Czech Republic and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. The British Embassy does not sponsor for work permits.
