Security

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Corporate Services and Security Manager, the Corporate Services and Security Officer (CSSO) will be responsible for the supervision of the guard force, liaison with local law enforcement agencies and security companies and monitoring threat and security incidents. In consultation with the Regional Overseas Security Manager based in Manila, the CSSO will provide security advice to all staff and official visitors.  

The successful applicant will line manage two High Commission drivers, be responsible for the transport fleet, the development, implementation and maintenance of a robust health and safety programme and be responsible for fire safety management at the High Commission.

Security:

  • Provide regular security up-dates and recommendations on the High Commission’s security posture.
  • Liaise with the network of security managers in other international organisations, diplomatic missions and companies.
  • Work closely with the Regional Overseas Security Manager based in Manila on his quarterly visits and ensure security recommendations are implemented.
  • Supervise and manage the guard force.
  • Provide security briefings to staff and official visitors.

Health & Safety:

  • Work proactively with the Corporate Services and Security Manager to implement and maintain a health and safety strategy.
  • Ensure all alarms and safety equipment are tested regularly and fire drills carried out.
  • Ensure all staff receive adequate training and instruction in emergency procedures.

Transport:

  • Direct line management of two High Commission drivers.
  • Manage the transport fleet, including maintenance and vehicle checks, ordering spare parts and ensuring all paperwork is up to date.
  • Spot-check logbooks.

RESOURCES MANAGED:

  • 2 members of staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • IT proficient with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of customer service
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively and flexibly
  • Ability to plan and prioritise
  • Personal initiative, drive and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Language: English, Tok Pisin
  • Level of language required: Fluent written & spoken
  • Experience of working in an office environment / multi-cultural organisation.
