  • Support delivery of DIT objectives in Cambodia, to including facilitating growth of UK exports to Cambodia, assisting UK companies to do business in Cambodia; utilising networks and research to gather market intelligence on activity across key sectors to identify opportunities for UK business
  • Investigating and identifying market access barriers to inform local department strategy, intervention and HMG bilateral trade policy; managing stakeholder relationships to obtain business views and intelligence
  • Provide assistance and advice to individual UK companies, including research, event management, advice on procurement processes and potential partners, and introductions to government.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Identify market access barriers and business environment issues using a range of methods, including review of rules and regulations, and government and business consultation. Collating information to populate Market Access Digital Service, to inform strategy for DIT Cambodia and bilateral trade policy.
  • Relationship management and in market support for UK companies, based both in the UK and Cambodia, particularly those pursuing high value commercial opportunities. Collaborate with BritCham to record business services data and market intelligence.
  • Gathering market intelligence about developments in high value opportunity projects in the identified sectors by undertaking research, company visits and meetings with relevant officials and stakeholders.
  • Plan and deliver projects, events and activities, including inward and outward missions, seminars, exhibition groups and workshops, including high-level Ministerial and senior official visits.
  • Consider market access barriers, business environment issues, and develop and maintain guidance for UK companies on 'doing business in Cambodia'.
  • Work with the DIT / Embassy marketing teams to disseminate information of interest to Cambodia and UK stakeholders through a range of media.
  • To record information about companies and sectors and engage with a relevant audience, providiing briefing as necessary for the Embassy, DIT London, companies, senior officials, and visiting VIPs.
  • Assist in delivery of 'Trade for Development' ODA and non-ODA projects in Cambodia.

  • A degree plus at least two years' experience of working in a relevant role such as management, marketing, trade promotion, trade policy or business development;
  • Ability to provide oral and written briefings, produce meeting notes and undertake regular email and phone based communications;
  • Strong knowledge in IT applications and MS Windows;
  • Evidence of self-motivation, professionalism and ability to work under minimal supervision;
  • Evidence of adaptability and ability to prioritise against competing, challenging tasks;
  • Ability to work in a small but dynamic team;
  • Fluent in English and Khmer
  • Corporate business development, economic analysis and research, sales or marketing experience would be highly advantageous;
  • Events and project management skills and experience delivering results against deadlines/targets;
  • A proven track record of successful relationship management with high-level stakeholders and international clients;
  • Familiarity with the UK is an advantage.

Some evening and weekend work is required on occasion. Embassy Standard Terms and Conditions apply and provide for time outside of working hours compensated through Time-Off-In-Lieu. The job involves travel, including to the UK, regionally and within Cambodia. A willingness and ability to travel is required.

The British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package, including salary and benefits, leave entitlement, and training opportunities. We offer a salary starting from USD $1,516 per month, great terms and conditions and working environment, together with specialist overseas training.

We also offer 18 days of leave entitlement per annum in pro rata.
